Do You Know the Different Types of Acne?

COMEDONAL ACNE: When a pore has been filled with sebum, bacteria, dirt, and/or dead cells) either a whitehead or blackhead will appear. What is the difference?

WHITEHEAD: if air cannot reach the pore, the head of the pore will remain white.

BLACKHEAD: if the pore opening is wide enough and oxgen can reach it - it will or may turn black.

INFAMMATORY ACNE:

PAPULE: a rounded, raised deermal growth - it is usually very small and can become crusty or infected if scratched or opened. A licensed aesthetician can do a removal for you.

POSTULE: may appear as a bump or blister and contain pus in the very top layer of skin. These are usually formed in hair follicles or sweat glans.

CYST: if a large amount of pores become cloged in a certain area, a cyst can occur and are potentially dangerous. If a cyst rubture you can experience infection or inflammation. Cystic ance is the most common type of acne in teenagers and generally related to their changing hormones.

NODULE: if acne is experienced in deeper layers of skin, they are typically larger and more painful. Nodules can be severe and also rooted deep in the root of hair follicles.

BODY ACNE: back, chest, neck, ears, scalp, shoulders and the butt are places on the body with the greatest density of pores and make these areas more prone to acne. Clogging in pores, hormone changes, and bacterial are all factors contributing to body acne. Other factors that make acne more common: laundry detergents, hair products, tight clothes or active / sporty lifestyle.

Having acne is not end of the world, regardless of what type of acne you experience. If issues with acne start to affect how you feel about yourself, how willing you are to be around others, or do the things you enjoy doing - you should consider treatment.
